POTUS8647

Michael Torlen

POTUS8647 integrates painting, exhibition, performance, a gallery event, ritual burning, artist framed works and video. The project consists of nine framed panels (28 × 24 inches), painted on mounted monoprints using acrylic and Flashe paint, partially burned, and housed in wooden frames coated with gold polyurethane foam. Each frame includes a QR code linking to a video documenting the project’s complete process.

Exhibited in 2025 and 2026 POTUS8647 began as a series of paintings that appeared in American Grotesque Part 1 in 2025. The iteration of the project moved to a tomatoes throwing Happening where individuals threw tomatoes at some of the paintings. Next the paintings were partially burned, then the remains were reinforced and secured with a gold covered polyerurethane frame. A QR code was attached to each painting’s frame, directing the viewer to a video of the entire project. The final iteration was shown in American Grotesque Part 2, Zero Station’s closing exhibition in Portland, ME.
